Built by Someone Who's Been There

The Problem I Couldn't Solve:

As a card shop buyer, I faced the same challenge on every collection offer: sellers with over-inflated valuations based on raw TCGPlayer prices. They'd show me a Google Doc CSV: "It's worth $2,000." But what's it actually worth to me as a buyer?

I'd spend hours finding out. Check TCGPlayer market prices. Manually look up buylist offers across three sites. Try to remember which price ranges lose money after fees. Build spreadsheets that broke on edge cases. Calculate, recalculate, hope I didn't miss something.

Then came the worst part: after buying a collection, I'd spend months re-scanning cards and uploading to four or five different platforms—TCGPlayer, buylist sites, Crystal Commerce. Each platform wanted different formats. Each required manual work. The time cost ate into profits more than any bad purchase ever did.

What I Built:

Card Catalog started as a tool for myself at Amesmill Card Shop. I needed to answer two questions fast:

  1. Before buying: What's this collection actually worth to me? Not the seller's inflated TCGPlayer number—real net profit after all fees, unprofitable ranges, and buylist opportunities.
  2. After buying: How do I route this inventory to maximize returns in the shortest time? Which cards ship to buylist, which list online, which export formats I need.

I automated what I was already doing manually. The difference: 60 seconds instead of 6 hours.

Why I'm Offering It:

It works. I use it for every collection I evaluate at Amesmill.

Other shop buyers face the same problems I did: unrealistic seller valuations, manual research, time wasted on uploads, missed buylist opportunities, bad purchases based on incomplete data.

If it saves you one bad buy, it's paid for itself. If it saves you 10 hours of re-scanning and uploading, that's 10 hours you can spend actually running your shop.

No hype. Just math.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is this different from TCGPlayer price guide?

TCGPlayer shows retail prices. We show:

  • Buylist values from multiple vendors (instant cash)
  • Net profit after all TCGPlayer marketplace fees and shipping costs
  • Routing decisions (which cards ship to buylist vs list online)
  • Unprofitable range avoidance (automatic pricing adjustments)
  • Profit projections you can use during negotiations
Who is this for?

MTG Card Catalog is built for card shop buyers who evaluate collection purchases:

  • LGS owners buying collections from walk-ins
  • Online sellers sourcing inventory from Facebook Marketplace
  • Buylist specialists evaluating bulk deals
  • Store managers making purchase decisions

Not for: Individual sellers looking to sell their own collection (use TCGPlayer directly).

What CSV formats do you support?

Buylist values: 90-95% accurate

  • Updated daily from Card Kingdom/SCG APIs

Online values: 85-90% accurate

  • Based on MTGJSON market prices (TCGPlayer average)
  • Accounts for all TCGPlayer Direct marketplace and shipping fees
  • Includes payment processing and platform fees
  • Caveat: Assumes cards sell at market price (competitive pricing)
